The Queens Inn Hotel Velankanni
The Queens Inn is a beautiful hotel in Velankanni that offers budget rooms and a lovely food at affordable prices. The rooms are clean, spacious and equipped with basic amenities. The washrooms disinfected as per the standards. The restaurant offers complimentary breakfast and the food here is awesome. Our favorite here was the seafood and we went mad for the prawns fry.
We planned a day before
We travel to Velankanni every year and we always ensured to book our stays in advance. This year, we planned our visit a day before and tried booking rooms on the go. We could not book even a single room during our ten hours journey from Bengaluru to Velankanni. However, we were confident to find one after reaching our destination.
If you are travelling with a family comprising of older people and children, I would suggest booking the rooms in advance through your favorite apps like Make My Trip or GoIbibo. You will not only profit with the best prices they offer but can travel peacefully.
Luckily we found a good hotel for our stay in Velankanni after reaching our destination and of course we had to struggle a bit. We enquired at least three properties before we closed the deal in the Queens Inn.
The Queens Inn Experience
As I neared Velankanni, I slowed down my car to not to miss out any hotels and grab the rooms wherever I could. The Queens Inn hotel was towards the right on the highway and bit interior from its main gates. There was ample parking space with fewer vehicles parked and that indicated to me the availability of rooms in the hotel.
Finally we could book the rooms and the cost was within our budget (Rs. 2400/- per double bed room). I liked the furniture and other basic amenities provided in the room. The wall mounted LED TV and the mini refrigerator was also part of the amenities.
I wanted a drink and the hotel did not serve alcohol. We had an option of buying it from outside and have it in the room. It was already 9 pm and the shops closed in time by 10pm. The State government operates the liquor stores (TASMAC) in Tamil Nadu and they are strict with the timings.
The best thing I did was to take one of the hotel staffs with me who showed the nearby liquor store. There were varieties of spirits with fancy names and the only name I knew was the Royal Challenge, I grabbed it.
The food is what I adore a lot in Queens Inn. We ordered for so many starters and there was no one dish that I could say was not good. I was too hungry and in a party mood, I did not bother to photograph them.
I made sure to carry my Alpha 5100 for my complimentary breakfast photography. The breakfast consisted mostly of south Indian varieties perfectly cooked and delicious. Cornflakes and Milk was also part of the breakfast buffet and the children did like it.
We checked out by noon. The Queens Inn was an unforgettable experience and I hope to go there again. I did not find this hotel listed on the booking apps like MMT and GoIbibo. I hope they will list it soon, do check it for great deals.
